Zoltan Kiss, Ph.D.
President & CEO
Zoltan Kiss, Ph.D. - He is the founder of CanCure Laboratories, a sole proprietorship. The company is based, in part, on his previous research on a known human protein that was found to practically normalize, dose dependently and under separate conditions, both excess visceral fat and general obesity in obese diabetic mice along with substantial effects on obesity induced loss of skeletal muscle proteins as well as hyperglycemia, hyperinsulinemia, and dyslipidemia. He has also devised many potential anticancer compounds, one of them is particularly suitable to enhance the inhibitory effects of known drugs (for example, cisplatin, cyclophosphamide) on tumor growth while resulting in less toxicity. He hopes that these drugs, proven their worth in appropriate animal models, will eventually find ways to clinical uses as well.
About the Founder: Zoltan Kiss had an extensive academic research career before founding and leading several biotechnological companies. Until 2004, he was Professor and Section Leader at the University of Minnesota. Prior to that, he was a Senior Investigator at the National Cancer Institute (4 years) and held several faculty positions in the U.S. and Europe. Dr. Kiss holds a Ph.D. degree, and his research so far has resulted in 114 peer-reviewed articles and 23 issued international patents as well as 2 filed patent applications. Most recently, Dr. Kiss has been focusing on developing in animal models efficient drugs for the treatment of general obesity and excess visceral (abdominal) fat as well as associated physiological disorders including certain tumors.
